Ayasli received B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Middle East Technical University in 1968 and M.S.E.E. and Sc.D. degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973.
He worked as the Deputy Department Chair at the METU Electrical Engineering Dept for six years.
At MIT, Ayasli conducted theoretical and experimental studies on Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuits, GaAs Field-Effect Transistors.
